Parma, 19 Apri 2019 – There have been 25 league matches against AC Milan at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, all of them coming in the top flight and the next encounter will be tomorrow in the 33rd round of Serie A TIM fixtures. Ahead of that, we’d like to look back at the game 16 years ago.
Out of all the years of Crociati history, we picked this moment because it came in a good period for the club and the win came about thanks to one of the greatest bits of skill we’ve seen at home.
It was on Saturday night, 5 April 2003. In an exciting match with great quality on both sides, the key moment came in the 77th minute, in front of the Curva Nord.
Adrian Mutu burst away down the left before squaring it for his strike partner Adriano. The Brazilian got to the ball ahead of Paolo Maldini, beating his compatriot Dida with a left-footed backheel.
For the side led by Cesare Prandelli, it was the third straight win after beating Chievo in Verona and Lazio at home with the side moving up to fourth. At end of the season, we finished fifth and qualified for the UEFA Cup.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, the Milan side featuring the likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Filippo Inzaghi, Andrea Pirlo, Rivlado, Serginho, Clarence Seedorf and Andriy Shevchenko came third.
