PARMA VS. SPAL, THE OLD FLAME: MATTEO CONTINI
Parma, 7 March 2020 – Matteo Contini is the Old Flame of Parma and SPAL with the two teams facing up on Sunday at 12:30 CET at the Stadio Tardini.
The defender grew up in the youth teams of Varese and AC Milan, won the Primavera championship with the Rossoneri before moving on loan to Lumezzane in C1. In 1999/2000 he was on loan at Livorno and the year after he moved to SPAL for whom he played 17 games in total.
Between then and his move to Parma in 2004, Contini had several experiences: Monza, L’Aquila and Avellino. He played for the Crociati until 2007, making 107 appearances and scoring two goals.
Then, between 2007 and 2010 he was at Napoli before moving abroad to play for Real Zaragoza. After that, he returned to Italy where he played for Siena, Atalanta, Juve Stabia, Bari, Ternana, Carrarese and Pergolettese, where he ended his playing career.
After retiring there, he became Pergolettese’s coach, first with the youth team then with the first team where he led the side to promotion into Serie C.
