JASMIN KURTIC AFTER PARMA 2-2 BOLOGNA: “PLEASED TO PICK UP A POINT, NOW WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO PUT IN THE WORK”

Parma, 12 July 2020 – Following today’s draw against Bologna at the Tardini, Parma midfielder Jasmin Kurtic spoke to Sky Sport and had the following to say: “In the first half, we didn’t use the ball well. We kept on looking to play long balls to Kucka, but they were well-positioned in defence. Physically, they were strong and were getting to all the second balls first. They’re a good team with a good brand of football and should be complimented: you can see the progress they’ve made this year. They’re able to cause you problems when they’re in possession and are effective at playing in between the lines. It wasn’t easy. In the second half, however, we started to pass it on the ground and play. When you’re playing against these types of teams, you need to keep pushing until the end, because if you’re in good physical shape you can get a result. We needed a bit of luck today but made the most of it.

“Now and again, I get on the scoresheet too,” he continued. “However, I’m aware that I need to do more, I need to give more. I’m not thinking about scoring goals or providing assists. Instead, I want to play a more central role in the team’s play and shoulder more responsibility, bringing the rest of the players along with me. I came here to make an important contribution, but when you don’t pick up results this doesn’t count for anything. Today’s result is an important point, it needs to have a positive impact, providing us with a little bit more motivation, freeing our minds somewhat. After all, it’s not easy to take to the pitch and put in a brilliant performance after four consecutive defeats. We managed to pick up a point, we should be happy and continue to put in the work.”
