Bologna, 13 May 2019 – After the Crociati’s 4-1 away defeat to Bologna, Daniele Faggiano spoke in the mixed zone at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. This is what Parma Calcio’s Sporting Director had to say:

“Today’s performance was unwatchable. We certainly didn’t think that coming here would be a walk in the park, but after last week’s comeback against Sampdoria we hoped and thought that the team would respond differently and demonstrate a different approach. Parma isn’t what was on display tonight. Now, we’ll all look each other in the face, just like we’ve always done. I’m ashamed to have to comment on a performance like that. I’m ashamed on behalf of all our fans and the city of Parma. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. Two hundred minutes remain before the end of the season. We’ll try to ensure that our destiny remains in our own hands without waiting to see what other teams do. Perhaps this is a mistake that everyone has subconsciously made, not just us. There are two steps until the finish line. But we’re making these two steps feel like 200. It shouldn’t be happening. We feel sorry for the fans, the city of Parma and those who work for Parma behind the scenes. We need to stay united and together as one. It’s only right if the fans take it out on me. They’ve always spurred us on and given us a hand, we need them. We didn’t see Parma tonight. I didn’t like what I saw at all. It’s not good to always attack the Coach – we conceded goals tonight that weren’t his fault. We needed to be more alert. If it was up to me, we’d play again tomorrow, thinking only about ourselves and not about the others. We’ve got a three-point advantage and are trying to increase this. A training retreat for the squad? I don’t think it would be a useful exercise. We might have got it wrong, but I can assure you that this is a team that care. It’s better to look at each other in the face and try to show even more unity. This is a team made up of men. Everyone makes mistakes. We’ll try to unite as one.”
