Parma, 17 July 2020 – Mattia Cassani is the Old Flame of Parma vs. Sampdoria, our match scheduled for Sunday at 17:15 at the Stadio Tardini.
Born in 1983, the defender rose through the ranks of Juventus’ youth setup, winning the Viareggio tournament with the Bianconeri and made his First Team debut in the Champions League in 2003. That year, he finished the season on loan at Sampdoria, finding his feet in Serie B with the Blucerchiati.
He then spent three seasons at Hellas Verona, making 118 appearances, before moving to Palermo, where he stayed from 2006 until 2011, making 161 appearances and scoring twice. After playing with Fiorentina from 2011 to 2013 (34 appearances and one goal) and a loan spell at Genoa, he joined the Crociati.
Cassani arrived at Parma in 2013, making his debut in the Coppa Italia against Lecce. In two seasons he made a total of 56 appearances.
His career continued with a return to Sampdoria (25 appearances) and finished his professional career with Bari, where he made 31 appearances in two seasons with the club.
Cassani also played eleven times for the Azzurri.
