KASTRIOT DERMAKU AFTER PARMA 5-1 GENOA: “I’M HAPPY FOR THE TEAM AND MYSELF, I’D LIKE TO THANK THE CLUB, ALL THE STAFF AND MY TEAMMATES FOR THEIR FAITH IN ME”

Parma, 20 October 2019 “Tonight was very emotional for me. My teammates helped me so much, they made it easier because everyone put in a great performance.” These were the words of Parma defender Kastriot Dermaku after the team’s win over Genoa, with the Albanian making his Serie A debut: “It was amazing, everything went perfectly. In my eyes we did well to soak up any pressure when there was a need to and then we were also superb further forward, taking our chances whenever they came. We’re very happy right now but we know what our goal is, we have to avoid any complacency. Next up we have a big match against Inter, we’ll have to reset everything and start again.”

“It was important for me to be ready for the challenge and I’m happy with how I did. I’d like to thank the Club, all of the staff and my teammates for their faith in me: they really helped me to feel at ease. I knew that my time would come. It’s just my first game and we all know how difficult a league Serie A is. Bruno Alves? He’s the strongest player I’ve ever played with, I’m always looking to learn from him in training. He’s an example to follow, I just have to keep learning and improving. I’m really happy right now. The team were excellent, we know that we’ll have difficult games and tough times ahead. We just have to keep our heads and reach our goal, we’ll work hard in every training session with the right passion, desire and motivation.”

“My experience with the National Team has been so important for me, I’d like to thank all of the staff there because they bring me a lot of confidence even if when I don’t play. I’ve got minutes under my belt, I’ve played on some big stages. I’m happy with my debut today, my father came to watch from Kosovo yesterday. Inter? We’ll start thinking about them tomorrow and we’ll see how the Coach decides to prepare for the match. We’ll have to work hard and stay focused. We know that it will be tough but we’ll be up for the challenge.”
