HERNANI AFTER PARMA 2-0 UDINESE: “A VITAL WIN, WE MUST KEEP LOOKING TO IMPROVE”
Parma, 26 January 2020 – “We put in a great performance today. In the first half, we scored twice but we also did well during the second half. We must keep improving but these are three vital points. We had a few opportunities to score in the second half to make it 3-0, while they also had chances so we must improve. The most important thing is that we got the win.” This was what Parma’s Hernani had to say after Sunday’s win over Udinese. “I don’t like to talk a lot about myself but I think it was one of our best performances as a team – we all did our bit. Teamwork is fundamental. Our objective? It’s still to avoid relegation. We must get as many points as possible to remain in Serie A. We’re taking it game by game, we go into every match looking to win and we’ll see where we are by the end of the season.”
Was this a victory of maturity and self-awareness? “I think so, yes. We did well in the first half with the two goals and then we in the second half we fought hard to defend. The formation? We worked well during the week and the Coach did really well to give us all of the right instructions. We all know what to do and this is vital.
“I hope to score soon but the most important thing is the team. Maybe the goal will come in the next match, or after that – who knows. Obviously, I must keep looking to give my all for this team and the rest will come as a result. I’ve settled really well right from day one – with everyone giving me a really warm welcome. I’ve grasped the coach’s ideas and I want to think all of the backroom staff and my teammates. Scozzarella? He’s an important player, he positions himself well and to play with someone like him is also a big positive for me. He works incredibly hard and this helps everyone.”
