BOLOGNA-PARMA, THE OLD FLAME: EMANUELE FILIPPINI

Parma, 10 May 2019 – He enjoyed many shared experiences with his twin brother Antonio, but never in Emilia. Emanuele Filippini is this week’s Old Flame for Bologna vs. Parma, which will be played on Monday at 19:00 CEST.

After coming through the youth ranks at Brescia, he was then sent on a season-long loan to Ospitaletto before returning to the Rondinelle to find further space in the first team. Together with his twin Antonio, he remained at Brescia until 2002, scoring five goals in 200 appearances.

While Antonio would remain at Brescia until 2004, Emanuele moved to Parma. He made his league debut against Udinese, making 30 league appearances during his initial campaign and scoring two goals against Milan and Empoli. The following season, he scored two goals in the UEFA Cup against Salzburg and one in the league against Inter at the Tardini. A move to Palermo soon materialised where he rejoined his brother Antonio.

During one season with the Rosanero he made 20 appearances and scored four goals before moving to Lazio and then Treviso. The twins’ path split once again in Emilia, with Antonio joining Livorno in 2006 and Emanuele moving to Bologna. He made 40 appearances during one season with the Rossoblu and scored two goals before then meeting back up with his brother at Livorno. It was here where he concluded his playing career.

As a Coach, he enjoyed various spells at different clubs before being appointed as assistant Coach of Italy’s Under-17 National Team.
